I just wanted to do some realism and all my drawing pencils are at school, but even if I did have them here, I wouldn't have a good reference picture ready. So this is a quick painting I did today of Emily Haines, who is a solo singer, as well as the lead singer of Metric and a member of Broken Social Scene. I absolutely love her. :love: I wanted to see Metric when they did the Jingle Bell Rock tour with some other Canadian musicians, but we couldn't get tickets. ;__;

I think it resembles her a fair bit, so that's good. I messed up her nose and made it too long though. :< I attempted fixing it by surgery, but it looked bad so I just left it. Her face shape is a little wrong, too. But for the most part, I do like this picture. It was quite enjoyable, and I really need to draw realistic people a lot more! I'm missing out on all the fun. XD

I accidentally started on the white background layer, so this is all done on just one layer. >__> It's actually not as scary as I thought.

Done in Photoshop Elements 2.0.

Oooo, this is really cool! A different style from the other stuff I've seen from you, but this looks great! I love the subtleties of this, the shading, everything! It looks like a charcoal drawing, even though you did it in Photoshop. Either way, this is really impressive, and the only flaw is that it isn't big enough :D. I'm favouriting it.

Yeah, I don't post stuff like this as much as I'd like. :< I'm glad you like it though! I actually have issues with drawing things big, even my Art teacher made me fix/re-draw things because of that, haha. Thank you so much for the favourite too! >w<

Well, think of it as something to improve upon - try and make larger drawings. But yes, I really liked this, since you got so much detail with black and white shading - it really looked almost like something like a noir film. Except cooler :D.

Yup, I remembered! It's a fun name :D. Sam's unite!

Yup, I have a sketchbook with paper a bit larger than standard size that I barely use that I should draw in more...haha. It's cool you think it looks that that though. :D

Well, that's my assignment for you - try and draw in the sketchbook with bigger paper :D. I'll comment when you do, and congratulate you!

I do draw it it sometimes; it's my portrait sketchbook, pretty much, and I just don't post things I draw in there much because I see too many mistakes. XD; But I hope I can draw sometime nice in there soon that I can post :3

Well, of course! That's why we didn't take a chance and didn't run under the unstable power line that day...that's why she said that. Sams stand united! WE LIVE! Rahaha.

Metric was at The Big Time Out last year!! :D :D
It looks great and the delicate treatment of the hand in the picture is by far my favourite of this piece. It's very nicely done, and kind of resembles charcoal or conte.. maybe even pastel pencils! The shadows are nice too, another part of the picture that I like a lot. One suggestion is to maybe make her chest a bit bigger, or wider to be more proportionally correct with her head, since for me it looks just a little big. :)

Maybe she does have a big head, I don't know :XD: Great job though! It's refreshing to see something out of your usual style.

Her hand's probably my favourite part too, along with the highlight on her dress. :D Yeah, I thought I might have made her head too big... XD;; I also started with the facial features first, and I'm not used to that yet, so yeah. Thanks very much! I don't even like how I draw in my usual style so much but...that's what I do, haha. Gotta change that.
